Anita began her Hindi film career with the love story Premgeet (1982) opposite Raj Babbar. She played a brain tumor victim in the film. The film was a runaway success and Anita became an overnight star. Thereafter Anita acted in several films in the 80s and early 1990s like Zameen Aasman (1983), Bheegi Palkein (1984), Ghulami (1985), Taqatwar (1989), Adharm (1992) and others.
She starred with actors like Raj Babbar, Sunjay Dutt, Shatrughan Sinha, Dharmendra, Mithun Chakraborty, Govinda and many other top actors of the 80s.
